Il y a un grand désordre dans le reel (2018)
As usual in his work, the painting poses an overlapping of different elements as a juxtaposition of images. The accumulation of disparate discourses and plausible situations create a fertile conceptual and plastic reading between meanings and signifiers. The elements used have been collected from the press, internet, advertising, RRSS, among other sources. All of them share a common link with the theme of the "real", as is the example of the pink seat/armchair, a reproduction of The killing machine, an installation created by the artist couple Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller, and which this in turn is based on the novel La condemnation by F. Kafka. The color, the suspiciously affable appearance of the element, or the velvety material transform the image into a killing machine, becoming something disturbing. Another example is that of the man shooting what appears to be a blurred landscape. This image is a reproduction of the first reconstruction in the Spanish press (through a photomontage) of a murder of passion. The image was not real, but it was endowed with a staging that would reinforce the tragedy described in the article. The last thought that arises at the end of the painting is to shoot at that landscape, an eternal window that we have been trying to represent for centuries, taking mimesis to the limits of Pliny the Elder, like anchorites absorbed in themselves, technocrats of the process and all.
